The Outreach Continues!
Next week there will be a special one day conference outlining practices and ideas behind an exciting new fieldwork/repatriation "collective", which was founded here in London.
From the nest collective website:
"This One Day Conference will be an introductory practical and seminar based exploration on the world of contemporary Song Collecting. An emphasis will be on the practical aspects of collecting to encourage those new to the craft to gain confidence in fieldwork. Looking at a multitude of aspects at how to go about collecting from the wider British and International communities on our doorsteps and beyond. With a series of panels hosted by some of the country’s experts on matters concerning the ethics, the practicalities, the techniques, the histories behind the art of collecting and much more this conference will be accessible to both the novice and the expert. There will be a live concert and interview with special guests from the English Gypsy, Irish Traveller and Scottish Traveller communities."
